Nihar Desai was born in September 1982, and grew up in what used to be called Bombay and is now called Mumbai. From the age of 9, art has been a part of his life through the mediums of water-color paintings, oil paintings, acrylic paintings, and pencil sketches.
Nihar’s adventure with glass started in December 2009, and he continues to work with multiple artists to expand his skillset and creating new work. Nihar has worked as a teaching assistant and artist assistant for Davide Salvadore at Corning Museum of Glass and at the Pratt Fine Arts Center. Much of his work is inspired by Davide Salvadore and the Ferro brothers. Over the years, his work has evolved from something simple that can be created in a few minutes, to something very complex that takes multiple days to create. The immersive process of being able to touch the medium and cause change continues to inspire Nihar to create and make new work.
